It's All About Your Individual Group

What makes us unique?

We are a single vessel fleet, which means your group is guaranteed an experience on our custom-built, Cozier Craft boat, Ohana, with Craig-based charter captain Rick. Captain Rick will get to know your group and customize your fishing experience, combining his vast knowledge with your individual needs. When you book a charter with a big lodge, oftentimes you are part of a large group of people, you have changing charter captains with different levels of ability and experience, and you’ll be fishing alongside other lodge boats. In other words, you’re part of a crowd—both on the water and at the lodge. With Alaskan Ohana Sportfishing, you can rest easy knowing your time fishing with us is our top priority. Alaskan Ohana Sportfishing means simple, customizable, and unforgettable.

Why fish in Craig, AK?

As the largest town on the beautiful Prince of Wales Island, Craig is the centerpiece for world-class sportfishing and is home to part of the Tongass National Forest.

Craig, a somewhat sleepy town of less than 2,000 year-round residents, is known for its spectacular salmon fishing, offering the hardcore fishermen a shot at the king, silver, pink, chum, and sockeye salmon that pass by every summer. In addition, Craig has excellent halibut and bottom fishing for those who are looking for that deep sea adventure.

Although the town is small in population, Craig offers all the amenities you may need, including groceries, liquor, fuel, restaurants, and sporting gear. Ultimately, people come to Craig, Alaska, to fish some of the most productive waters in all of Southeast Alaska.

Our guests get to Craig by regular floatplane service or by wheeled plane service into Klawock, just 7 miles to the north. This short 20-minute flight from Ketchikan is full of spectacular sights. For those wishing not to fly, the Inter Island Ferry is available out of Ketchikan and makes two trips a day.

Testimonials

Words From Our Fishermen

Those stories you hear from other fishermen that went to Alaska… Yeah, they’re true.
Here’s what they had to say after their trips on the Ohana:

An awesome Alaskan saltwater fishing experience.

Rick guided our group of ‘old guys’ on how to use his gear and the techniques to use while fishing for cohos and halibut. His knowledge of the coastal Pacific waters was spot on. Time and again, Rick put us on locations, hooking up on those chrome coho beauties. Another highlight was anchoring off Coronation Island for a shot at halibut. Once again, Rick was spot on, and for more than an hour, we hauled in one halibut after another to the Ohana. His electric reels for halibut were terrific, allowing us old guys to keep hauling up those barn doors from 400′. At the end of the day, Rick had done his job superbly, and the old guys had paid attention. We pulled up to the dock with our limit of 24 cohos and four halibut. I’m ready for another charter with Rick in 2022.”

We fished with Rick up in Craig, Alaska, on a summer getaway and had a fantastic time! We hauled in a great variety of fish and just had a blast hanging out with Rick during the few days! Thanks for the awesome experience, Rick!

Ian Oregon

While on the trip, Rick shared with us that he has over 25 years of commercial fishing experience, and it shows! Rick’s knowledge of the area and his ability to catch fish is uncanny! On our trip, we spent the days reeling in huge salmon and hauling in halibut, and we even got the opportunity to catch lingcod! We hit our limit every day! The evenings of the trip were so enjoyable.
